BigResearch: Walmart heads for bed linen, but vulnerable - Home Textiles today

Columbus, Ohio - a recent BigResearch survey found that consumers in the market of new sets of sheet, towels and other textiles for the home are choosing to Walmart, ensuite Bed & beyond a distant second.One in five (21.3%) of consumers surveyed purchased at Wal-Mart more often for household linens compared with 13.2 per cent who visited Bed Bath & outside. JCPenney placed third at 8.4%, then the destination (6.0%) and Kohl (4.4%) as the favourite destinations for purchases of bedding, bedding and curtains.Within these soft home categories, price (70.2%) remained a dominant factor for purchase in a particular store, according to BigResearch although selection (45.2%), quality (41.0%), location (34.4%) and the reliability of a retail (16.3%) also play key rolesthat examined the 8,000 consumers.


Wal-Mart does not have a constant in his first post suspension, however. One in four buyers of bed linens and clothes of bed/curtains (25.7%) of one year or less cited high prices as a reason to change stores. Other factors include the uncomfortable location (10.5%), poor quality (7.5%), competitor of advertising (7.5%) and lack of more recent styles (6.4%).


In general, the survey found that consumers are slightly less confidence in the economy of this month than last month. Less than one in three (29.1%) said they are very insurance/insurance on the possibilities of a strong economy, two points down from 31.2% in February down and down slightly from March 29.8% 2010.
Even so, this month numbers are enhanced by 19.5 per cent of the March, 2009.
